I am going to take someone very special to me to San Francisco next weekend for my birthday they’ve never been. I grew up there, but kind of want to do something special / unique. I’ve got Fisherman’s Wharf, Chinatown, Exploratorium, Twin Peaks, Golden Gate Park, Union Square, Ruby Skye Club, Alcatraz, and you get the gist…I’ve even pondered a quick drive thru Castro District. LOL. So, this being my birthday, and this being his first-ever time to SF, any ideas on what to do? Going on a slightly limited budget (lame, I know)… but something that some mid-20s kids would like? Restaurants, arcades, etc? Thanks for any input!

Cool things you didn’t list are walking across the GGB, watching the Sea Lions at Pier 39 and having a drink at the Cliff House watching the breakers. Those would be the most memorable moments of your whole tour.

I would say start in Union Square –
Go to Macy’s basement and grab a sandwich or coffee at one of their restaurants.

Walk to Grant Ave. go into Chinatown for gifts or lunch.

Walk over to Columbus and on to Fisherman’s Wharf and then Pier 39.

Pay $5.00 (splurge) each, get in line and catch the Cable Car back to Union Square and check-out the food court in Westfield Mall for light dinner.
